Alex Cameron’s newest video is strange and beautiful. Directed by Jemima Kirke, this depiction of two lost individuals tramping around New York City instills a feeling of searching for human connection, something often disguised by the digital age in which we live. Cameron and Kirke seem to portray saviors for one another, encapsulating a fleeting moment in which audiences can live in for as long as they want. Set against a thumping bass drum, twinkling synth, and uplifting horns, Angel Olsen’s verses bring a hopeful heartache to Cameron’s grainy vocals. Together they elegantly sing about instant gratification for a lonely soul: “All I ever needed was right here / In a stranger’s kiss.”
Cameron’s sophomore album, Forced Witness drops on September 8th on Secretly Canadian.
